Mary Harris Manita passed away at home on August 22, 2024. Born Mary Carolyn Harris on April 24, 1949, in Concord, New Hampshire, to Evelyn Harris. She was pre-deceased by her mother, Evelyn Harris Berg and stepfather Ralph A. Berg, Jr., husbands Dean McKinnon, Joe Gray, and John Manita. Mary is survived by stepbrothers Chris Berg and Deane Berg and numerous cousins.

Her childhood years were spent in Rumney with her stepfather, a lumberman and her mother, a schoolteacher and later a real estate agent.

Mary was an active member and proudly served the Elks Lodge #2312 in Plymouth and traveled extensively to national Elks events with her late husband John Manita.

Mary’s career in banking began at Plymouth Guaranty Savings Bank after which she moved to the Community Guaranty Savings Bank from which she retired in 2015 after approximately 40 total years of service in these banks and, more importantly, their customers. Mary took great pride in knowing her clients on a personal level, being attentive to their individual circumstances and needs, and tailoring the bank’s offerings to best accommodate them.

Following in the footsteps of her stepfather, Mary would anonymously help individuals that she knew were in need and contributed to a variety of wildlife and humanitarian organizations, many of which will continue to benefit from her generosity with her passing.

Mary will be missed by her friends and colleagues and her beloved cat, Freddie, with whom she shared the last decade or more of her life.

A Celebration of life will take place at the Elks Lodge, 1159 NH Route 175 Holderness, NH 03245 on Saturday, September 28, 2024, from 11:00 am – 2:00 pm. Please come by for lunch and help us celebrate the life of our friend, Mary Manita.
