Marcia Ann [Cayes] Smith died at Harris Hills Nursing Home in Concord on October 9, 2015 followinga period of declining health. Born in Plymouth on December 27, 1919 she was the daughter of Fred and Abby [Smith] Cayes. Marcia graduated from Plymouth High School in 1937. She was a longtime resident of Ashland. While in Ashland, she took care of children in her home for many years, before working as an LNA in the An Ray Nursing Home and the Samson Nursing Home in Ashland. She was predeceased by her parents, Sister Berl Gage and Brothers Arnold, Roland and Earl Cayes She is survived by her daughter Patricia Dame and husband Sherburne of Ashland, son David Smith, Sr and wife Gloria of Georgetown, DE; daughter Shirley Genest and husband John of Concord. She was a grandmother to Marcia Kay Smith, David Smith Jr., Gary smith, Valerie Cray, John Genest Jr., Daniel Genest and Carita Tobine. Close family friends were Dale and Nina Straw and Richard and Evelyn Greene. There will be no services at her request. Interment will be at the family’s convenience.
