Lillian-Therese McCrelis of New Hampton, New Hampshire passed away peacefully on January, 28th 2016. Lillian, born on September 3rd 1922 was the daughter of the late Harry McCrelis and Anna (Shaefer) McCrelis of Bridgeport, CT. As a child, she attended the NY Giants game where Lou Gehrig gave his famous Farewell Address. Lillian proudly served our country during World War II as a Pharmacist Mate First Class in the United States Navy. Lillian enlisted in the WAVES on March 26th 1943 in New York City. She was stationed in Portsmouth, VA at the Norfolk Navy Yard. She worked in the emergency room, the pharmacy, lab and radiology departments. Lillian was given an honorable discharge in November of 1945. After her time in the Navy, Lillian worked for the State of Connecticut in the Veterans Hospital in Rocky Hill. Lillian loved to travel and loved her dogs. Once she retired and moved to New Hampton, she was active in many areas in the community. She worked in the thrift shop in the center of town. She volunteered at the New Hampshire Veteran's Home and became known at the "The Dog Lady". She would bring her dog to visit the residents of the home for pet therapy. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on April 29th at 10am at Holy Trinity Parish Our Lady of Grace Chapel 2 West Shore in Bristol, NH. Services will follow at 1pm at the Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen, NH. Dupuis Funeral Home in Ashland is handling the arrangements
