Kay Crowley Mudgett Obituary

Kay (Crowley) Mudgett (87), passed away on May 16, 2024 after a period of declining health. She was born June 2, 1936, in Ashland NH. She was the youngest daughter of Carl and Grace (Dawson) Crowley.  Kay attended Ashland High School where she graduated in 1954.

Kay married her husband Lewis F. Mudgett in 1965 and they enjoyed 24 years of marriage before Lew’s passing in 1989. Kay worked for White Mountain Power for several years before she and Lew began their family. As soon as their children arrived, Kay devoted herself to the role of full time mother. While her children were growing up Kay was involved in all the activities that touched her childrens’ lives. She was the “room parent” for years and provided countless dozens of homemade cupcakes for all classroom parties. Additionally, she served her community as a member of the Ashland School Board for many years.

Kay returned to the workforce in 1986 and was employed by the Town of Ashland Utility Department. Kay truly enjoyed her position with the Town and took pride in serving the people of Ashland. Her role in the Utility Office afforded her the opportunity to work closely with a very special group of individuals. She formed many friendships in this office and stayed in touch with many of these wonderful people well into her retirement.

Kay had many hobbies throughout her life. She enjoyed a wide variety of music and was an avid reader. She loved to knit and always loved to play cards, specifically Whist and Rummy. Kay was an avid football fan and loved the New England Patriots. Anyone who had ever attended a family dinner, would remember Kay’s homemade macaroni and cheese. It was truly wonderful and is a family favorite to this day.

However, there was no role more special to Kay, than the role of grandmother. She adored her grandchildren and took extraordinary pride in them and all their accomplishments.

Kay is pre-deceased by her husband Lewis F Mudgett, her parents Grace (Dawson) Crowley and Carl Crowley as well as her two brothers James (Jim) Crowley and Richard (Dick) Crowley and two of her sisters R. Carlene Crowley and Joan G Conway.

Kay is survived by her children; Jeff C Mudgett and his wife Tara of Ashland NH and Jill (Mudgett) White and her husband J.O. of Holderness NH. Kay is also survived by her sister Marion E Crowley of Laconia NH.

Kay also leaves behind her two grandchildren (the absolutes apples of her eye!) Abigail L. Mudgett and Brayden L. Mudgett.
