Joan Grace Conway Obituary

Joan Grace Conway Obituary

Joan G (Crowley) Conway (91), passed away on December 15, 2023 after a period of declining health. She was born March 5, 1932, in Ashland NH. She was the third daughter of Carl and Grace (Dawson) Crowley.  Joan attended Ashland High School where she graduated in 1950. She was known as “JoAnn” to her family and close friends.

Joan was employed for many years at the Walker Shop in Plymouth and later at the Cricket Shoppe in Campton. When Joan retired from her retail career, she spent the next several years of her life enjoying her grandchildren and assisting with the care of her aging parents.

Joan was a very creative individual with a love for music. She played both the piano and the organ and passed her musical talents on to her children. Joan spent many happy hours playing the piano/organ in the front room of her parents’ home in Ashland. Many wonderful memories were made there. Joan was also an avid knitter. She made beautiful sweaters for friends and family and in particular had a talent for the “fisherman knit” patterns. Joan read extensively and closely followed the world news. One of her favorite past times was the Sunday Crossword puzzle. Joan was also a very good cook, anyone who had been to a family Christmas party would remember Joan’s spaghetti sauce with meatballs, absolutely outstanding!

Joan had a very quick wit and an outstanding sense of humor. She loved to laugh and she enjoyed making others laugh! While Joan had a variety of interests, there was nothing more important to her than her family and close friends. She was a good friend to many, a wonderful mother and an outstanding Grandmother. She will be greatly missed!

Joan’s family would like to take a moment to extend our sincere thanks to the staff at the Mountain View Nursing Home for all they’ve done for Joan. She received outstanding care delivered by a group of caring and compassionate professionals.

Joan is pre-deceased by her parents Carl and Grace (Dawson) Crowley, two brothers James (Jim) Crowley, and Richard (Dick) Crowley and her eldest sister    R. Carlene Crowley.

Joan is survived by her three children, Lynn (Conway) Kover, Cheryl (Conway) Manigault, Bryan Conway and his wife Renee. Joan is also survived by her sisters Marion E. Crowley  and Kay C. Mudgett.

Joan found great joy in her family and this was especially true when it came to her grandchildren. She was fortunate to have 10 grandchildren: Christopher Wein, Kelly Wein, Scott Wein, Rick Bell, Leigh (Bell) Garner, Erika Haskell, Tricia Conway, Alexandra Manigault, Christopher Brown and Jeremy Conway. Additionally, Joan enjoyed the gift of several great grandchildren.

A private service will be held, in the spring, at the convenience of the family. The Dupuis Funeral Home in Ashland is handling the arrangements.
