George "Skip" Hartley Gailey Jr. 68, died suddenly at his home on January 24, 2015. Born in Lawrence Massachusetts on April 7, 1946, he was the son of George H. and Eleanor I. [Lewis] Gailey Sr. Skip was raised in North Andover, Ma where he attended local schools, he also attended Boston College before entering the U.S. Navy. He relocated to New Hampton from Plainfield Ct. thirty years ago. While in Connecticut he was employed as a Police Officer in Plainfield, Ct. Skip was also employed by the Town of Plymouth, NH. He was a member of the National Rifle Association, Dupuis-Cross Post #15 American Legion in Ashland, he was also a member of Disabled American Veterans. He is survived by his wife of forty five years Carolyn [Gallup] Gailey of New Hampton, three sons R.D.Gailey of Holderness, Brian L. Gailey of Ashland, and George "Chip" Gailey III of Bristol; two Grandchildren Caitlyn and Elizabeth Gailey of Holderness; one Great-Grandchild Riley Gemma Gailey of Holderness, and numerous Aunts, and Uncles. Burial will be in the spring in the New Hampshire Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen. Donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Program. Dupuis Funeral Home in Ashland is handling arrangements.
