Frederick Eugene Brown Obituary
Frederick Eugene Brown, 82 of Holderness, NH passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 14 surrounded by loved ones, after a battle with cancer.
From a young age, Rick enjoyed car rides and adventures with his parents and sister.
He started his career in the military serving 4 years in the Airforce, stationed in England as an air traffic controller.
While in England he also enjoyed archaeological digs, marrying his first wife and having two sons.
Back in NH, Rick had two daughters. He worked alongside his father, Earle Trapper Brown at Trapper Brown Corporation and eventually took over the business so his father could retire.
Rick became a pilot and flew airplanes and helicopters for business and pleasure.
He enjoyed sailing on the Merry Holderness in waters from Canada to Florida and the Florida Keys including the Bahamas with family and friends.
Rick was an avid fly fisherman and his favorite location for fishing was New Zealand. He traveled there many times and took several family members- including his parents and sister.
Rick met Dawn and her 4 children, expanding his family.
Rick was a successful businessman. He built over 12 million square feet of office, industrial, municipality, school and storage buildings spanning the east coast from Maine to Virginia.
He and Dawn transformed Wachussett Boys Camp on Squam Lake NH to their primary residence and spent nearly 40 years enjoying family gatherings, weddings, birthdays and holiday celebrations there.
They also enjoyed a second home in Titusville, Florida.
His thirst for travel and adventure took him to nearly 100 countries across the globe, many in his favorite American made Silver Ghost Rolls Royce, Thayer.
Shall we go for a ride? Something you would often hear him ask. Whether it be to join the 4th of July Parade in Ashland NH or around the world - he loved touring in his Rolls Royce cars.
He won the Peking to Paris Road Rally in 2007 - placing best in class and ushering all the cars into Paris.
He’s traveled around the globe taking his wife, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren parents and friends on epic adventures. He loved traveling and his family loved traveling with him, as long as you knew how to read and fold a map your trip was somewhat smooth. Make sure you always carry the right sockets and wrenches too!
He and Dawn traveled the Caning Stock Route in Australia. He took his family on African Safari and to Puerto Rico. He’s driven the highest motorable road in the world, crossed the most challenging deserts and traveled the longest road.
He most enjoyed traveling with his family, extended family and Rolls Royce enthusiast friends from around the world. He did many Silver Ghost Rally’s.
His cars often won first in class in shows.
He was an avid reader from a young age and had quite the library. He also loved chess and challenged grandchildren to matches. He was quirky enough to have his socks labeled left and right because he needed to know which ones go on the correct feet.
He loved Thanksgiving and Christmas Holidays and apple pie but hated ketchup, condiments were not an option at his table.
He was generous and helped many.
He loved his country and proudly wore an American Flag pin on his shirt daily.
Whenever he traveled across the globe, and was asked his favorite place, he always said home. He was a lifelong resident of Holderness NH.
He could fit more into a week than most people do in a year- a life very well lived.
He is survived by his wife and best friend Dawn, son Martin Wayne, daughters Sharon Lea and Kate Dianne, stepchildren Kathy Irish (Mike) Debbie Latham (Rick) and Cindy Prescott as well as nieces Christine Patridge, and Mary Jane Melanson (Billy) a nephew Steven Melanson (Kathy).
