Eric "Rick" D. King Obituary

Eric “Rick” D. King of Moultonborough, NH passed away peacefully of heart disease at his home December 2, 2025 with family and friends by his side.

Born in Laconia on March 3, 1952 and raised in Meredith, he was the son of Norman “Bud” King and Jacqueline (Nevers) King.  Rick attended Inter-Lakes schools and became a stone mason by trade like his father and grandfather before him.

Rick was a hardworking adventurous man with an impressive work ethic and unparalleled integrity. Rick worked in many parts of the country including Iowa, Texas, Arizona, and California before moving back to start King’s Stone Masonry & Landscaping with brother Scott.  Their work gained prominence in the Lakes Region and beyond. In 2001 they were invited to showcase their stonework in Washington D.C. for the Smithsonian Masters of the Building Arts Program.

His life was his wife, family, and work. His happiness was fulfilled by being with those he loved including his large extended family, many new and old friends, hunting buddies, and relationships gained through work. He was intentional and purposeful in everything he did.  He was a true patriot and had a deep appreciation for those who served our country. Rick held profound pride in his father Norman “Bud”, brother Natt, son Austin, son-in-law John, and nephew Miles Trevor for their service to our nation. Rick had a magnetic, larger than life presence that drew everybody to him, there was no one like him.

Rick loved spending time with the love of his life Jeri, family and friends at the family camp, “Trails End” in Pittsburg NH. He loved hunting the whitetail deer, ice fishing, collecting firearms, reading history, watching movies, making hard cider and he loved to laugh, he really appreciated a good tease, scare and prank. Rick was a 45 year member of the ELKS B.P.O.E. Lodge #876 and Sons of the American Legion.

Rick is survived by his best friend and loving wife Jeri (Trevor) King, their son, Austin King, his wife Rebeccah, daughter Kelly ErkenBrack, her husband John. Also, honorary son James “Badger” V. Frangelli (Rachel Legg). Grandchildren (the light of Rick’s life) Elin Mae, Ava Rose and Lincoln James ErkenBrack and Bowen Carson King.  He is  survived by his sister Pamela King, Woodstock GA, brother Natt and Denise King, Moultonborough, NH, Scott and Ellen King, Holderness, NH. Nieces and nephews Eliza (Jared Steer), Molly Lounsbury (Ryan), Caleb King (Kimberly), Lindsey King (Aaron Govoni) Clinton King (Amanda) and many grandnieces, grandnephews and cousins. Brothers-in law Alan Trevor (Ann), Tarzana CA, Keith Trevor (Jackie), Holly Ridge NC, Howard Trevor (Genny) Moultonborough NH. Rick is predeceased by his parents Norman and Jacqueline and sister Gail King.

Rick will be deeply missed, remembered always, and loved forever. There will be a memorial gathering at a later date yet to be decided.

Rick’s family would like to thank Dr Carolyn Crosby for her guidance and support over the years but certainly in these more recent months, the cardiac team of Dr Hannah Bensimhon at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center  and dear family friend Kelly Austin who was so helpful with Rick’s care at the end of his life. Also much gratitude to the staff (and friends) from Quality Care Home Health and Hospice, Moultonborough NH without whom his last weeks at home would not have been possible.

Funeral arrangements managed by Dupuis Funeral Home, Ashland NH.

TRAILS END

Hedgehog Nubble with its crown of snow

Keeps a quiet watch on the woods below

The cabin door will swing no more

No stomp of boots across the floor

Antlers hang from rafters high

Silent witness to days gone by

Cider gone, wood stove cold

Chair empty where lore was told

Coats and hats upon the wall

A mouse runs down the narrow hall

Rifles stacked will roar no more

Bring memories from days of yore

And the deer upon the Diamond Ridge

Will bow their heads to the fallen King
