Edward Arthur Brown 87, of Ashland died at Concord Hospital on December 31, 2017, following a period of failing health. Born in Brooklyn, New York on January 20, 1930, he was the son of John W. and Josephine [Haweeny] Brown. Ed was raised and received his education in Brooklyn. After his school years, he enlisted and served in the U.S. Navy during Korea, he also served in the Navy Reserve for many years. In 1966 Ed relocated to Ashland with his family; he was employed at Sanders Associates in Nashua for many years as the Senior Mechanical Engineer in the Counter Measures Division. He also operated his own septic design service. He served his town as chairman of the Budget Committee for 10 years. He was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church in Ashland, a member of the Dupuis-Cross Post # 15 American Legion in Ashland, also American Legion Post # 49 in Tilton. Ed enjoyed fly fishing at the camp in Millsfield, fly tying, traveling, and attending his Navy reunions. He was predeceased by his parents and his wife of 57 years Josephine Anne Brown on February 22, 2010. He is survived by his wife Barbara [Monson] Brown of Ashland, his daughter Dianne Stickney and husband Arthur of Gilford; his sons Donald Brown and wife Jane of Sandwich, and Michael Brown of Ashland; step-children Gene Carter and wife Rosa of Boston, Judith Matthew of Ashland, John Carter and wife Lani of Haymarket Va., and Kevin Carter of Gainesville Va.; 4 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren. Calling hours were held at the Dupuis Funeral Home 11 Hill Avenue in Ashland on Tuesday January 9, 2018 from 6-8 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at Holy Trinity Parish St. Agnes Catholic Church Hill Avenue in Ashland on Wednesday January 10, 2018 at 11am A committal service will be held on Tuesday, May 22nd at 11am in Green Grove Cemetery, Main Street in Ashland..
