Dorothea Geneva (Burhoe) Zimmer Obituary
Dorothea Geneva (Burhoe) Zimmer of Holderness passed away peacefully, from a sudden
illness, surrounded by the love of her family on May 20th, 2026. She was born on November 19,
1952, at Speare Memorial Hospital, Dorothea was the daughter of Freeman and Phyllis Burhoe.
She grew up in the small town of Thornton, New Hampshire, attended Plymouth Regional High
School, and spent many years raising her kids in Holderness. She relocated to Evans, Georgia,
where she had resided for the past 6 years.
Dorothea was widowed after sharing 40 loving years of marriage with her husband, Phillip
Zimmer, whom she missed dearly. She dedicated 26 years of hard work to Cold Springs resort
in Ashland, where she was known for her strong work ethic and caring nature.
Above all else, Dorothea’s greatest joy in life was her family. She treasured every moment spent
with her children, grandchildren, and extended family. She loved being outdoors in the sunshine,
especially enjoying the sight of red cardinals. Her cats were like children to her, bringing endless
comfort and companionship. She also loved listening to old classic country music. Dorothea
always put others before herself and will be remembered for her loving, selfless, bold,
supportive, and humble spirit.
She was predeceased by both her parents Freeman and Phyllis Burhoe; her beloved husband,
Phillip Zimmer; her son, Jeremy Zimmer; her granddaughter Hannah Zimmer; her brothers,
Brian, Butch, and Douglas Burhoe; and her sisters Judy and Donna Burhoe.
Dorothea is survived by her sons, Jeffrey Zimmer of Campton and Joseph Zimmer of Plymouth;
her brother David Burhoe of Woodstock; her daughter-in-law , Nicole McSpadden of Evans,
Georgia; her granddaughters Morgan Zimmer of Plymouth, Julie Zimmer of Evans, Georgia,
Lilliana Zimmer of Plymouth, Abby Zimmer of Berlin, and Emilee Zimmer of Rumney; her
grandsons Alex Zimmer of Plymouth, Zachary Zimmer of Evans, Georgia, Tyler Zimmer of
Plymouth, Joseph Zimmer of Berlin and Andrew Zimmer of Plymouth. She also leaves behind
many nieces, nephews, great-grandchildren, extended family members, and friends who will
miss her deeply.
Services will be announced at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Dorothea’s memory to cancer foundations or
organizations supporting cancer research.
