Ann Marie Laauwe Obituary

It is with extreme sadness that the family of Ann Marie Laauwe (St. Arnauld) announces her passing on her 72 ½ birthday, May 27, 2026.

She passed away due to complications from Alzheimer's disease----just two months after her husband, Jim, passed away on March 29, 2026.

Ann Marie was born in Plymouth, NH the third child of Dona and Bertha St. Arnauld of Ashland, NH.  She grew up in Ashland and was happily surrounded by relatives from both sides of the family in addition to great neighbors and people from town.  She graduated Ashland High School in 1971.

Ann Marie was a loving wife, daughter, grand-daughter, sister, aunt, stepmother, grandmother and friend.  She was a giving person and always there for her family and friends.  She cared for both of her parents, in their home, for several years, as they each dealt with their own journey through dementia—her father passing away in 1986 and her mother in 2019.

On August 4, 2001, Ann Marie married James (Jim) Laauwe.  She was thrilled to be part of his large family and honored that they all welcomed her into their family as " Grannie Annie"!  They would have celebrated their 25th anniversary in August!

Ann Marie worked for over 30 years at IPC/Freudenberg in Bristol, NH.  After retiring from there, she worked at Speare Memorial Hospital in Plymouth, NH, at the Inn on Golden Pond and lastly, she got a LNA degree so that she could start caretaking for others in need (knowing the importance of their help and what it meant to the families)!

Ann Marie was her happiest when she was at home.  She enjoyed gardening, adding special touches to their home, decorating for the holidays, crafting and making her own greeting cards.  She also made custom-made Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls for several years.  During the holiday months, she and Jim made many of their gifts to others which the families and friends treasure.

Ann Marie and Jim were both great Red Sox fans.  They watched every game and would tape it, if they couldn't.  While watching the games, she could be found working on one of her projects.

One of their greatest adventures, together, was to drive to Arizona for the winter months of 2019 and 2020.  They rented a lovely home out there and were able to be closer to their good friends, Bev and Fran.  Great memories that they talked about frequently.

Ann Marie is survived by her sister, Earlene Castignetti, her sister-in-law, Judi St. Arnauld, her niece, Danielle (James) Owen, her nephew, Mark Castignetti, her stepchildren: Irene Thacker (Tim), Jeanette Short (Gary), Amy Laauwe (Adam) and Kris Laauwe—as well as nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

In addition to being predeceased by her husband, Jim, she was predeceased by her parents, her brother Gary St. Arnauld and her brother-in-law, Robert Castignetti.

Family and friends are invited to attend Ann Marie’s Celebration of Life on June 27, 2026, from 2:00 to 5:00 PM at Hart’s Turkey Farm Restaurant in Meredith, NH, where a light luncheon will be served.

Interment for both Ann Marie and Jim will be at a later date at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen, NH.
